[ upon his return from a frosty grave and general discernment of what had happened to him and his group of death-mates, steven is trying to get in contact with those that he knows. the hope is that if they were also taken from the colony, that they had encountered a better fate than he had.
of course, edna is one of those people. she might be a little prickly, but he's worried about her. ]
It's Steven. Are you well?
[ he hopes that she'll know what he's talking about. how could she not? ]
We went to the earth shrine, fought some robots, one grabbed my ankle, and then I lost my seraphic attributes.
[ That's the gist of it, and what he should know. All things considered, they got off easy, with only one casualty. (It still sucks, though. As a fellow spirit, she can kind of feel for another who gets their vessel destroyed in such a manner.) ]
...I see. At the very least, I doubt it will be permanent.
[ that's... huh. well, he appreciates her being clear and concise, but while he would appreciate more details, considering that he barely has any about his own group's escapades in the dungeon, she probably doesn't either.
he's not the best at it, but maybe he can try to lighten things up a bit. ]
I was prepared for hunger and tiredness, but this whole "bodily substances" thing is disgusting. I don't know how you humans deal with it all the time.
[ Snot, sweat, bathroom stuff, and more...ugh!!! ]
Watching people go through the motions is one thing, but doing it yourself because your have to is another. Do humans cope by becoming numb to the filth accumulating on and inside of them?
[ Seriously. Seraphim are capable of eating, tasting, sleeping, and whatnot, but it would be through volition and not necessity. In other words, a luxury, of sorts, done mostly to make humans not feel as strange in their company. ]
Honestly, it isn't really something we think about often.
[ he 'aint denying it, though. as someone who likes to stay as clean and proper as possible (disregarding time in caves), it can be a pain to deal with. ]

Did you get whisked away too?
