[It takes a few tries, but Korra finally manages to press the call button and leave Edna a message. She sounds really embarrassed.]
Uh, this is Korra. We...didn't exactly get each other's names. [She clears her throat, and then the words come pouring out in a flood.] Listen, I'm really, really sorry about the way I was acting in the library the other day.
[By the time she replies, a few hours have passed. Why? She's only just woken up after her long, long rest (which frankly, she thinks she deserves for putting up with all of this month so far) and stares at the message crankily for a few moments before shooting off an equally cranky message.]
And why me? You could at least be honest if you just want to tag along and mooch off any spoils.
[He didn't actually mean to stumble into this store. The problem is that he was trying to avoid someone he knew seeing him looking longingly at the sweets across the way, and when he saw them coming, he made a hasty retreat into the nearest non-threatening looking store.
Hence.
The rain gear store.
Chal's not super pleased. "But young maaaaasterrrrr. I thought you said you would try the shaved ice today! I wanted to see it!"
[ It's a slow day for the rain gear store. It's always a slow day for the store, because the weather almost never changes. It's a wonder how they even stayed in business before the colony flood happened. Even afterwards, business never quite picked up and stayed that way (save for the rush of purchases in preparation for a similar event), but that suits Edna just fine. Money's still money, and work is still work, however slow it may be, and it's a good break from her other job anyway. Most of their clientele is hydrophobic aliens and the occasional colony resident who wants to venture out to the jungle outside.
Leon has stepped into the store, and is neither a hydrophobic alien nor a jungle explorer. Therefore, today is already much more interesting than any other that has passed this week. Edna puts on her best apathetic store clerk voice to greet him at the door. ]
Hello and welcome to [ insert store name here ]. If you can see me, great. I'll be happy to help you with whatever questions you have about any items in stock. [ The enthusiasm in her voice is anemic as always. ] If you can't see me or you're here to return something, take it up with the cashier over there.
[ She points to where said cashier is, and she's...taking a nap on the counter. Okay. This is just routine at this point. Sad, sad routine. ]
[Leon may as well be a hydrophobic alien, let's be real here.
But either way, the voice is familiar to him and to Chal both; he turns immediately (much like a startled cat) and Chal is the one to exclaim (with a lot more cheer than Leon would've used) "Edna!"
[ as people begin to trickle back into the populated parts of the colony, steven's pokémon do the same - all without their trainer. their natural instincts can lead them to a point, but each of them have other humans in cerealia that they've bonded with; ones that steven told them to rely on, should they ever be separated.
in aggron's case, it's edna. the gentle giant in him took a significant liking to her in their meetings, between their shared ability to manipulate the earth and her incredible pokemon amie petting capacity. while there isn't a connection nearly as strong as the one he had with steven, he trusts the seraphim's judgement.
while he doesn't know where she lives exactly, he knows her scent well enough to be led in the general direction of her apartment complex. he sets out once he's bid his fellow teammates farewell, but has to stop once he reaches his destination... mostly due to his size. he's seven feet of pure metal and bulk - there's no way he can enter that building without wrecking something or hurting someone.
it's disappointing (and more than a little lonely, considering who he's lost today), but he has no choice but to lie down and curl up in front of the complex to wait for edna, like a lost puppy waiting for someone to pick it up. it's a little odd to see something so big act like that, but... well, aggron has quite the odd personality.. ]
[ What she expected to see after returning home from work: the entrance of the apartment complex being as plain and mechanical as ever.
What she did not expect to see after returning home from work: This exact scene, this scene of a Aggron lying down like a lost puppy in front of their home. ...Ah, he lost his trainer, didn't he? Well then. She prods Aggron with her parasol. It probably won't hurt, judging from how strong his defenses look. ]
...What are you doing here, Aggron? And where's your miniature version?
[ unfortunately, there's not much of a verbal response from aggron. it perks up visibly when he sees edna approach, but he's quickly reminded of why he's here... even though he's not even sure if she'll accept him.
he looks especially disappointed at her second question - he and aron went their separate ways. she said that there was another human that steven would have wanted to protect, so she went with them... leaving him alone to wait for edna. it was a hard decision, but one that he had accepted.
the prodding with her parasol doesn't bother him, but he does let out a sound that's not unlike a dejected whimper. ]
[ upon his return from a frosty grave and general discernment of what had happened to him and his group of death-mates, steven is trying to get in contact with those that he knows. the hope is that if they were also taken from the colony, that they had encountered a better fate than he had.
of course, edna is one of those people. she might be a little prickly, but he's worried about her. ]
It's Steven. Are you well?
[ he hopes that she'll know what he's talking about. how could she not? ]
